Dear Garlic…you're a disappointment

I followed the directions right.  I planted the garlic bulb in the fall.  I cut the scape.  And today, I pulled it.  And this is what I got.

Its not that difficult to grow garlic.  Or is it?  I thought I did everything right.  Maybe I pulled it to early?  But it said to pull it when the bottom of the stalk got brown.  This is brown & dead isn’t it?

Matt told me we’ll just have to use the tiny little garlics to plant again in the fall.  Until then, this is “drying” in my coat closet.  Its the only place I could find that was “dark & cool”.  I wonder if it will make my house smell like garlic.  That’s not the worst 🙂

Its Official…

Matt & I are married!!!!  The day was perfect & nothing terrible went wrong.  We couldn’t have asked for anything better.  We want to give a special thanks to all of our friends & family from near & far for helping to celebrate our day.  We’d also like to think everyone who couldn’t make it for their thoughts & prayers.  You all made the day perfect.  THANK YOU!!!

garlic plant…what is wrong?

Dear Grandpa Marco:

You’ve taught me about many things in life, you’ve shown me lots of stuff, and left me with words of wisdom such as “speed kills” (referring to car speed…not the drug).  I thought I knew it all…..  However!  You forgot to teach me about garlic.  GARLIC!!  Of all things.  The one thing on this earth you might have loved most.

I thought garlic would be easy to grow.  Right?  How hard is it to put a garlic in the ground in the fall & wait until mid summer to pick it?  It can’t possible be that hard.  UNTIL THIS HAPPENS!!!  What the heck is this???  Is my garlic bad?

Thank goodness for the internet!  I looked it up.  Its a scape and nothing to worry about. Its TOTALLY normal.   I just needed to cut it off.  My garlic isn’t dying.  What a relief.  I thought I let you down.
